CHECK THE FILE YOU ALREADY HAVE
Emote File Checker
See what is actually inside an emoji or sticker file: its format, canvas, byte size, animation frames and transparent pixels. Then choose the next tool if something needs fixing.
Your image stays in this browser. PNG, APNG, GIF, WebP and JPEG · Up to 8 MiB · No account
Selected guideline checks
Fix the issue you found
This checker leaves your original file unchanged. The sticker maker creates static PNG; it does not convert GIF to animated APNG.
Read the result before uploading
- Choose the exported file you intend to use, rather than the original editing project.
- Check the actual format and dimensions. A .png name can still contain different bytes.
- Compare the byte size and frame information with the asset type you need.
- Use a repair tool, then inspect its newly downloaded file again.
What the checks mean
Format and animation: container checks read signatures, frame records and declared timing. PNG checks include chunk checksums. The browser then attempts to decode the image frames.
Transparency: an alpha channel does not guarantee transparent pixels. We scan the decoded pixels; a partial animation decode is clearly marked.
Timing: cycle duration uses the file’s declared frame delays. A browser or platform may clamp short delays. Loop information is shown when declared.
Published guidelines and their limits
Sources checked 22 October 2026. Discord’s emoji support article lists JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP, an under-256KB budget, and GIF for animated emoji instructions. Discord’s sticker creator guidance lists static PNG or animated APNG, a 320 × 320 canvas, a 512KB budget and a 60 FPS ceiling.
These profiles follow the linked Support documents. Other Discord guides may describe different Studio workflows. The sources do not define KB as decimal or binary, so this tool shows exact bytes and identifies the boundary range. A matching file still needs the appropriate permissions, slots, name and content before Discord can accept it.
Common questions
Why is a file under the byte budget still rejected?
File size is one check. An incorrect format, incomplete export, incompatible animation, account permissions or available slots can also matter. Check the exact asset type and the platform’s current upload screen.
Does renaming GIF to PNG make an APNG?
No. Renaming changes the filename, not its encoded content. This checker identifies the bytes and flags a mismatched extension.
Does this fully validate every image?
No. It performs bounded structural checks and attempts browser decoding. Unsupported animation decoding is marked partial. The tool does not test every format feature, image content policy or a real platform upload.
What are the local safety limits?
Inspection is limited to 8 MiB, 2048 pixels per side, 4 megapixels per canvas, 300 frames and 16 megapixels across full frames. GIF inspection also limits declared animation to 60 seconds. These are local processing limits, not platform upload requirements.
