Why three sizes?

Twitch shows emotes at different scales depending on where they appear, so every emote slot needs the full ladder: 112×112, 56×56 and 28×28. Upload a single image here and all three come out at once, correctly named.

The 25KB limit is the real constraint

Static emotes must land under 25KB per file — and a detailed 112px PNG blows past that easily. Exports here are compressed to fit automatically, so you find out before Twitch rejects the upload rather than after.

Animated emotes get 1MB
