The canvas shows exported pixels, not how every Twitch viewport crops or stretches a banner. A small source can look soft when enlarged.

Which Twitch banner are you making?

A profile banner sits on your channel page. Twitch recommends 1200 × 480 pixels and says its display scales with the browser width; put essential graphics where they remain readable. A video player banner appears when your channel is offline. Twitch describes that placement separately, but the 1920 × 1080 option here is our editable 16:9 design preset, not an official required size. Check the current upload dialog before relying on its dimensions or file limit.

Twitch’s published recommendation. Crop keeps the canvas filled; Fit keeps the whole image but may introduce transparent or solid padding.

Offline artwork

1920 × 1080

An optional 16:9 design canvas for an offline player image. It is not a Twitch size requirement or a promise that an upload will be accepted.

Make a banner without stretching the art

1. Start with a suitable source

Use a static image with enough detail for a wide crop. For a profile banner, a source around 1200 × 480 or larger avoids enlargement; larger is not a guarantee of sharpness.

2. Choose the frame

Fill preserves proportions while cropping edges. Move the subject with the sliders. Fit keeps the whole source and adds padding where the ratios differ.

3. Inspect the download

Choose PNG or JPG, note the exact output dimensions and byte size, then check the file in Twitch’s current upload interface and on a narrow screen.

Keep names and logos visible

A profile banner can be viewed at different widths. Keep important text away from the edges and test contrast against your channel layout. If a logo is near the right edge, preview on a narrow window before uploading; resizing the bitmap alone cannot predict Twitch’s final presentation.

Twitch banner questions

Is 1200 × 480 required for every Twitch banner?

No. Twitch recommends it for the profile banner. This page also offers a separately labelled 16:9 design canvas for offline artwork; that second size is not an official requirement.

Does this tool resize an offline video?

No. It prepares one static image. Twitch’s video player banner is a still image shown when a channel is offline; this tool does not edit or export video.

Will my image be stretched?

Crop and Fit preserve the source image’s proportions. Crop removes overflow; Fit adds padding. The final browser or Twitch display can still scale the exported file.

Can I upload a GIF?

This tool accepts static PNG, JPG and WebP and exports PNG or JPG. Animated files are rejected instead of silently losing their animation.

Does my artwork leave my device?

No. Decoding, previewing and export happen in this browser tab. Ordinary analytics and fonts may load, but the image is not uploaded for processing.
