Use one clear shape, strong contrast and little or no text. YouTube says emoji display around 24 points in chat, with higher-density screens using more image pixels. Judge the actual-size preview, not only the enlarged one.
Fit leaves transparent space around non-square artwork. Fill crops the edges. The PNG keeps transparent source pixels; a JPEG background remains part of the image.
Channel memberships must be available on your channel. In YouTube Studio, open Earn → Memberships → Your badges and emoji, then upload the file under custom emoji. Check the current YouTube interface for the final steps.
